Twice as Hard
Shannon,
Here are the lyrics to the song I wrote a few days ago. I wrote the music as well. Nothing high-level, just a mix of four chords and a tempo. It has been well-received by my captive audience of fellow caregivers and various Group friends. It is all sad but true, but still hopeful in the end, as we admit that God will lead us through and make us new.
Love, Daddy
TWICE AS HARD
By Kevin Moore, August 8, 2025
I’ve been hurt before, but nothing like this
It’s been fifty plus years since our first kiss
The pain is twice as hard and twice as sad
Trying to understand is driving me mad
And then it hit me as to the reason why
My sadness has doubled the tears that I cry
Disease has taken her mind and her voice
Has stolen our plans and freedom of choice
{CHORUS} - Oh, oh, Lord . . . See Chorus below
Now I know why it hurts me twice as much
When we cannot talk and enjoy the touch
I am still here but she is halfway home
We’re in the same room but really alone
I am trying twice as hard, but living half the life
I am crying twice as hard, and miss my sweet wife
I am now thinking for two, for me and for you
I am now speaking for two, for me and for you
{CHORUS}:
Oh, oh, Lord, I know you hear our plea
You are there for her and there for me
Oh, oh, Lord, I know you will make us new
Victory for us, praise and glory all to you.
Outro: All to you! All to you! Praise and glory all to you!
